First Person View?

Post by szuwei.william »

Since the camera is placed above the raptor to provide a bird-eye view, is the game actually showing the effects of what we'd see if a camera were placed above the raptor and moves along with it in the same speed?

If so, how would the views be different had we actually see things from the raptor's point of view, similar to what a first-person shooting game would be?

Just curious. :geek:

Ah, good question.

The view that's drawn is all from the perspective of the raptor. To put that more precisely, each point that's drawn is placed at the angle and the distance the raptor would measure/see it from (depending on the view setting). It's like if you had to make a 2d blueprint of your room, say, by looking around.

So imagine it less like a camera floating above the raptor... and more like a 2d representation of the space the raptor is moving in (according to the raptor)

If this were first person, well, first off I suppose the game would have to be in a 3d space instead of a 2d one. And guess what, I've got just the thing for you! A Slower Speed of Light, by MIT Game Lab: http://gamelab.mit.edu/games/a-slower-speed-of-light/
