More Particles Waves

Post by DavidAllyn68 »

Ok, so I've been playing with code generation using excel (wish I could attach, but the web page won't take .xls files, sorry). This kind of brings Gravity Sim to it's knees, but it's worth letting it run. There's some beautiful stuff that happens with all of these particles!!! If you vary the velocity and mass of the two orbiting planets (at the beginning), and you can see how gravity pulls on the particles in different ways. Fun stuff!

Code: Select all

[ForceG: -2,Qual: 1,Zoom: 0.3,xSet: 0,ySet: 0],
[x0:-500,y0:1,vx:0,vy:1.5,t0:0,who:2,m:4000],
[x0:500,y0:-1,vx:0,vy:-1.5,t0:0,who:2,m:4000],

[x0:0,y0:-250,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-245,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-240,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-235,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-230,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-225,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-220,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-215,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-210,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-205,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-200,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-195,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-190,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-185,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-180,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-175,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-170,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-165,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-160,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-155,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-150,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-145,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-140,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-135,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-130,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-125,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-120,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-115,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-110,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-105,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-100,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-95,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-90,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-85,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-80,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-75,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-70,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-65,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-60,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-55,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-50,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-45,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-40,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-35,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-30,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-25,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-20,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-15,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-10,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:-5,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:0,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:5,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:10,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:15,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:20,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:25,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:30,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:35,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:40,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:45,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:50,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:55,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:60,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:65,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:70,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:75,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:80,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:85,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:90,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:95,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:100,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:105,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:110,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:115,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:120,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:125,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:130,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:135,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:140,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:145,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:150,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:155,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:160,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:165,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:170,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:175,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:180,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:185,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:190,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:195,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:200,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:205,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:210,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:215,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:220,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:225,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:230,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:235,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:240,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:245,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],[x0:0,y0:250,vx:0,vy:0,t0:0,who:3,m:0],

Wow, that's a lot of stuff.
Anyway, I personally think that this is kinda like it was with higgs: Andy, we need a megathread.

Code generation with Excel? Heh, someone else who does this. (Though I use python now)

Yeah. Though maybe for each group (Eg. "Asteroid lines" for David's threads).
$1 = 100¢ = (10¢)^2 = ($0.10)^2 = $0.01 = 1¢ [1]
Always check your units or you will have no money!

Also, I accidentally left this running in the background. On the other hand, it made a kinda cool pic, so I thought I'd take a HD shot and give it to you guys:

Megathread created. It'll indeed be helpful to group similar creations.

Also, this is amazing - around 100(?) asteroids - yikes. Slowly but surely creeps along. I'm excited to give the new updated version of the sim a stress test like this -- see how many bodies can be added before things slow to a crawl.

By the way, Andy. While I hate to shoutout to my request like this, are we ever getting negative masses?

What about black :Holes?!
Binomial Theorem: ((a+b)^n)= sum k=0->k=n((n!(a^(n-k))(b^k))/(k!(n-k)!))

Personally I would love to see "merged masses". When two bodies collide with similar velocity or the difference in mass is big enough the merged body is the sum of the masses. It would be great to see a bunch of m=1 bodies combine to create planets, etc!
