Exfret's Master List of Suggestions Small and Large

New Features

…Would be a cool Gravity-related feature
-Tides & Tidal locking
-Actual 3D display, etc.
-Different geometries (hyperbolic, elliptic, loop, möbius strip, klein bottle, toroidal, etc.)
-Gravity waves
-Custom accretion disks
-Friction

…Would be informative
-Tutorial (for any yet and future uncovered features)
-Player written wiki/guide
-Gravitational potentials/Hill circles
-Showcasing Lagrange points

…Would increase ease of use
-Tabs to have multiple experiments going on at once
-Built-in save slots
-More hotkeys

Being able to … Would be rad
-Chaos investigator: Start several experiments going at the same time with slight modifications to see the differences in what happens
-Upload your favorite creation to the gallery (one creation per copy of GSim)
-Fly a rocket ship around
-Look out from a planet as its astronomers might
-Life
-Simple in-game programming

Have extra options for…
-Collision modes: default, merge, ignore, fracture, bounce, ___ stays (smaller, larger, random, average), and EXPLODES!!! (my favorite, obviously).
-The time-step (input box?)
-Planet colors (with a color picker, and possibly custom images)
-Clearing the screen (possibly a drop-down with reset, clear, clear dust, clear objects (but not trails), trails (but not objects), and defaults (sets all options to defaults))
-Music
-Force Law Functions (hyperbolic trigonometry, gamma function, etc.)
-Force Law Variables: force laws dependent on time, mass, direction, >force<, etc.)

Have the option to Toggle … On/Off
-Whether zooming in/out changes something’s displayed size
-Collisions increasing size (they would increase density instead)
-Orbit lines on/off for specific planets
-Force/velocity arrows for a specific planet
-Upper/lower bounds to zooming

Have the option to Change…
-Collision boundaries (e.g. If you wanted objects to have to get closer to collide, or if you didn’t want collisions to be size-dependent.)
-The size of planets along with density and mass
-The background (has anyone even ever thought of this?)
-The tangential potential force law
-Keybindings
-Gravity rules for specific planets or group of planets

Have the option to [verb]…
-Delete a specific orbit line
-Eraser
-Resize window/true fullscreen
-Take Pictures (if you haven’t already added that in yet)
-Boost planets (increased velocity in direction of travel) or put an engine on them (continuous boost, rotates with planet, customizable boost-size equation dependent on acceleration, direction, speed, time, and/or direction)
-Zoom-in/out to/from a selection
-Stats for a selection: Average mass, velocity, heaviest/lightest, fastest/slowest, youngest/oldest, most traveled/least traveled, density, area, and total mass

Old Features

Increasing performance by…
-Safeguarding against system overloads
-Drawing more lines with high curvature/acceleration and drawing less otherwise
-Making better prediction lines that take into account future motion

…Should happen
-Colliding with fixed stars when merge is on

…Shouldn’t happen
-Orbit lines getting deleted after toggling the orbits button (instead make it so people have to hold the button down to destroy orbit lines)

…Would be more intuitive
-Greying out the force law when you turn general relativity on
-Drawing a door on the home button
-Switching the Home Button with the examples button

-Prettier: Increasing the resolution of planets/stars (sometimes look a little blocky)
-Easier: Including a separate page with advanced features in a compact layout organized by type of feature

Bugs

Doesn’t include/work well with…
-Zooming & large, screen-sized black holes
-Zooming & panning
-Zooming & a bunch of orbit lines
-Selecting things other than said black hole & large, screen-sized black holes

Doesn’t work right
-Changing the number of dimensions
-Inputting large number notation

Happens/Doesn’t Happen when it Should(n’t)
-Black holes glow like stars
-When you move a slider in settings, you can also move the settings layout up and down
-Collided objects don’t remember how they were created, so save codes won’t give you an accurate code if something has merged

I just like organizing. I'm a bit obsessed with these fora if you haven't noticed, so I've gotta find something to do when no one's posting.
