The Latest

Post by testtubegames »

Time to clean out the cobwebs here and get to work! (Thanks for your patience as I've been working on other projects)

One thing I've found incredibly helpful with the Electric Shocktopus is having to-do lists refresh after each update. That way we can clear out the old stuff -- and keep the new stuff. Also, it gives me a nice place to check things off as I do them. So, with that in mind, I went through all the latest threads here and compiled a list of suggestions...

Gravity Suggestions (as of version 0.30.02)

Bugs
-Saving and loading is buggy
-When you change screen resolution, mouse position gets out of whack
-Small (2 pixel) objects shouldn’t expand larger than that when you zoom in
-Objects far off screen get deleted when, maybe, they don’t need to.
-Scrolling / mousing on a window above the GSim window influences it
-Occasionally a blank single-pixel-width line between different orbit tiles
-Prediction line lags if too many objects, shorten it / remove it / make it less precise in those instances
-Circles get stretched in certain resolutions for some reason

Subtle Changes
-Readjusting position and velocity simply by dragging
-Merge asteroids and fixed stars
-Note when you’ve gone from Ptolemy and such, make it easier to escape it
-Merge options (normal, no collisions, merge, shatter, disappear, bounce)
-Setting *any* color
-More functions, such as: floor, ceil, round, abs, gamma functions, zeta functions
-Easy way to reset zoom
-Color change based on mass
-Selective orbit trails
-Clicking on the potential law box resets the force law box, even if you don’t do anything. Make it a selection box, with one line for either code
-Undo button
-Make it clear that it's *either* general relativity *or* your force law. Not a combination.

New Features
-Reset button that lets you re-run a certain setup
-Protractors, rulers, graphers, stopwatch (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=156&start=120#p2468)
-Polar grid?
-Precession view, draw dots
-Resonance view (eclipses)
-Showcase Lagrange points better
-Easy way to share gifs / images / videos
-Inserting comments
-Save and load codes work better with merging
-Maybe more advanced code options (adding a bunch, sorting better, birth and death times, perhaps who you have selected/tracking)

Boring
-Get a WebGL version working
-Prevent crashes and overloads
-Way to check and indicate if there is an update available

How does that look? Did I miss anything major? (For the record... this looks like *plenty* to keep me busy!) As I work towards the next update, I'll check things off as I complete them.

Hey guys, I know you haven't heard from me in a while, but I'm really glad to hear GSim has had an update.
Glad to see the new features you're going to get in! :)
