Andy "To-do list"
Andy "To-do list"
This topic will be for posting the various ideas for games to be created. Of course, it is ultimately up to Andy of whether something is to-do or not (hence the quotes in the topic name), but I just thought I'd offer a place to gather everyone's thoughts. Posts in here should be:
-Links to topics/posts about suggestions for future or present games (not the actual posts of course)
-Preferences to as what Andy should do next (you can include first, second, third)
-Things that I should add to this list
I will make a list that hopefully represents the wishes of the TTG community. Right now, it only includes what I want, because I haven't heard from other people, but I will try to edit it as people post their preferences. In parentheses is the/my preferred 'due date' plus or not plus a few months (though I could be terribly wrong about how long these things may take). Here it is:
[Done] 1) (Christmas 2013) Gravity Simulator update 1
[Done] 2) (January-Febuary 2014) ~TES~
3) (March-July 2014) Gravity Simulator update 2 w/ buyable version and phone version
4) Finish Higgs levels
5) Evolution Simulator, Hyperbola (and other geometries) land, Bond Breaker?
Also here's a list of all the things out there for Andy to do:
-Finish Electric Shocktopus http://www.testtubegames.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=6 http://testtubegames.com/blog/category/ ... hocktopus/

I have the feeling Andy should be paying you by this point for being his secretary.

Hey, don't rush Andy! Good games take time.

$1 = 100¢ = (10¢)^2 = ($0.10)^2 = $0.01 = 1¢ [1]
Always check your units or you will have no money!

Exactly. That's why it's "plus or not plus" instead of "plus or minus."A Random Player wrote:Hey, don't rush Andy! Good games take time.
Also, yous (robly and ARP) realize you're posting about my post instead of anything actually related to this thread, right? Do you have any preferences for what Andy should do next?

Re: Andy "To-do list"
Oh man. It's incredible. Some point soon I have to do a comparison of the work that went into Shocktopus vs. Agent Higgs. Night and day, people. (It'd take an evening just to tabulate the lines of code in Shocktopus, I'm sure)A Random Player wrote:Hey, don't rush Andy! Good games take time.
Back on topic, this is a nice way to bring us together to think about what people's priorities are. Of course, this isn't a democracy, but a benevolent dictatorship, mind you. But I want to making games/sims that people want -- so this more general feedback can be really helpful.
My priorities right now is first and foremost getting ~TES~! up and done enough to shop around for sponsors. While doing that, I want to get the first (basic) version of the new Gravity Sim going. With this one, unlike with TES, say, I'd like to have a fairly open development process. For TES, since I wanted sponsors, I couldn't ever release the game publicly. I had to hide it and password protect it, and let a few playtesters in to see it.
For the Gravity Sim, though, since I'm not going the sponsorship route, I can have a running web-version alpha that I try to update, say, weekly. It'll have bugs and problems, sure. But by making the process open, I'll hopefully be more in tune to what you all want out of the final product. (You'll be right there as I need to make 'keep/cut feature' decisions)
I haven't thought too far ahead beyond those two projects. But it seems pretty clear to me that people are itching for that gravity sim, so it's going to be my next project.
(As daunting as that list of things I've 'said I'd make/do' is... I'm afraid I have more things to add to it! A possible game about Scanning Tunneling Microscopy for a research group... and running a Science themed Game Jam in the spring. Ho boy!)
Re: Andy "To-do list"
I don't believe such comparisons to systems of governments mean very much when it's just a few people. At this level, power is purely social/personal and the least bit political, which makes such a comparison to governments inaccurate.testtubegames wrote:Of course, this isn't a democracy, but a benevolent dictatorship, mind you.
Basically, the reason you make the decisions is because it's your life, not because you are the ruler of us.
Yes!!! I've always wanted you to do it this way. It's much less anticipat-ytesttubegames wrote:My priorities right now is first and foremost getting ~TES~! up and done enough to shop around for sponsors. I'm also itching for hyperbola-land, if you ever make one. (First person!!!)testtubegames wrote:I haven't thought too far ahead beyond those two projects. But it seems pretty clear to me that people are itching for that gravity sim, so it's going to be my next project.
Oh, and don't forget to add a general relativity game to that list! Of course, you don't have to do all of these; they're choices, not work. (I guess the name of my topic wasn't very accurate then, but it gives the general idea).testtubegames wrote:(As daunting as that list of things I've 'said I'd make/do' is... Re: Andy "To-do list"
Err... I mean, this is obviously much different from a benevolent dictatorship, because that would imply a tyranny, my lord. What I meant to say was that you were a benevolent monarch, King Andy, so may I be released from the stocks? If you don't, I'll, I'll... DIVIDE BY ZERO!!!! Oh, wait, already did that: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=123&start=20#p1072robly18 wrote:I couldn't find an image that fit the situation, so I made one myself.testtubegames wrote:That's it! Re: Andy "To-do list"
Haha, that's the kind of dictator I am. I put the stocks down at the bottom of a cliff. Throwing people off might seem a bit severe, but I've never heard anyone complain once they've landed.
In other news, exfret - you are pardoned for your crimes. As ultra-treasonous as those crimes were.
